Our Main Programme
Weekly drumming with 500 young people
Drum Works uses drumming as a tool to inspire creativity, build social cohesion and empower young people to direct their own futures. Around 570 people take part every week through five partner schools in east London, community programmes in Walthamstow and Newham, and two progression ensembles. High-energy, engaging and creative sessions led by experienced professional musicians enable participants from all backgrounds and all levels of musical experience to create something they enjoy and are proud of. Through collaborative music-making we develop participants’ confidence, break down social barriers and build a supportive community where everyone can thrive.
All musical material is written collectively by participants and has a fresh, original sound distinctive to our east London community. Opportunities to perform at high-profile events demonstrate that positive action, hard work and commitment achieve amazing results. Participants who wish to develop their skills further can join our progression ensembles, and an assistant programme offers professional experience for older members.
Workshops, performances, training
Alongside our main programme we deliver a range of other activity including shorter-term school projects, CPD training and corporate teambuilding. You can also book our bands for performances, arrange a bespoke workshop for an event or join one of our community ensembles.
