Our workshops are suitable for all ages, all levels of musical ability and all group sizes.

Whether you’re looking for a fun, inspiring musical activity or you have a specific learning target to reach, Drum Works can provide workshops to suit your needs.

What will participants learn?

All Drum Works workshops include some background about the Brazilian samba drums we play, basic drumming techniques, rhythmic work and ensemble playing. Participants will learn different drumming patterns and by the end of the session will be able to perform what they have learned.

Learning outcomes include:

  • Improved rhythmic skills and an understanding of how beats are put together
  • Experience of ensemble playing
  • An insight into of different composition techniques and processes
  • Development of transferable skills including communication, confidence, teamwork and creativity.

Workshops can be tailored to suit your needs, for example focusing on a particular genre of music, developing ensemble and performance skills or learning new composition techniques.

Who leads the workshops?

Workshops are led by professional musicians and experienced facilitators who are highly skilled at involving every student regardless of their musical ability or level of confidence.

How many students can take part?

We normally work with around 30 people at a time, but we can accommodate smaller or larger groups (our biggest group to date has been 120!).

How long are the workshops?

Workshops can last for anything from 30 minutes to a full day. We can run short workshops with several groups over the course of a day or half-day, or we can work intensively with one group for a longer period of time.

How much does it cost?

Prices vary depending on group size, location, duration and content – please contact us to discuss your requirements.

As a guide, the standard prices for workshops in greater London with up to 30 participants per group are:
Half-day: £600 +VAT
Full day: £750 +VAT
