Mia Baker (participant rep)
Board Member
Mia is a participant representative sitting on the Drum Works board. She first found Drum Works in school, when she was 13 – this is where she fully realised her passion for music and drumming. Mia joined Drum Works’ Training Band a couple of years after, and then progressed into Drum Heads in her final year of secondary school, which she is still in today.
Mia has also worked with Drum Works in schools as a workshop assistant during her gap year and first year of University, where she studied English Literature and Japanese. Mia took a break from her studies before her third year, and secured a full-time job working for a comedy production company. She is now working part-time helping to run and teach at a performing arts school, while trying to find her next career adventure (of course whilst still drumming in Drum Heads).
Mia feels very passionate about young people (especially those who are underrepresented in the music sector) being able to access music, as Drum Works is something Mia feels she has hugely benefited from. She looks forward to bringing this passion and perspective to the Drum Works board.
Outside of drumming, Mia enjoys cooking, going to concerts, and learning (some very random) fun facts. She is currently trying to learn how to DJ.
