Eddie Shelter

Eddie is currently Senior Producer for the Music Department at the Barbican Centre in London.  Born in London, he has been a specialist in the music production and event management field for over 25 years.  He has worked on numerous large-scale events and festivals during this time and has had the pleasure of working with world-class artists.  He has worked on numerous high-profile and technically complex events in his career.

Eddie started his working career as a Youth Worker in 1990 for a local Community Centre and it was in this role that he started organising events and working with musicians and arts practitioners.  Following this role, he moved into the event management field organising an annual week-long festival for the municipality of Westminster.  Directly prior to working at the Barbican Eddie was employed by various outdoor festivals around the UK and abroad.

Eddie’s strengths lie in managing organisational change, strategic planning and managing key stakeholder relationships.  He has always had a keen interest in managing people, helping colleagues to achieve personal and career goals and assisting them in reaching their true potential.

An essential aspect of Eddie’s role is to cultivate excellent relationships with artists, arts organisations, creative practitioners, producers and associate partners from around the globe, including the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and international partners.

Eddie will be leaving the Barbican in January 2026 after 25 years of service and will be moving onto the role of Operations Director at Saffron Hall in Essex where he will be responsible for front of house and back of house operations as well as cultural outreach work in the Essex area.
