Eddie Shelter

Eddie is currently Head of Music for the Music Department at the Barbican Centre in London. Born in London, he has been a specialist in the music production and event management field for over 25 years. He has worked on numerous large-scale events and festivals during this time and has had the pleasure of working with world-class artists.
Eddie started his working career as a Youth Worker in 1992 for a local Community Centre. Directly prior to working at the Barbican he was employed by various outdoor festivals around the UK and abroad.
His strengths lie in managing organisational change, strategic planning and managing key stakeholder relationships. Eddie has always had a keen interest in managing people, helping colleagues to achieve personal and career goals and assisting them in reaching their true potential.
Eddie started his role at the Barbican in December 2000 as a Production Co-ordinator and has worked in the Music department ever since as Production Manager, Senior Producer and now, Head of Music. As Head of Music he is responsible for a team of 50 staff and the presentation and delivery of over 330 concerts a year.
An essential aspect of his role is to cultivate excellent relationships with artists, arts organisations creative practitioners, producers and associate partners from around the globe, including the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and international partners.
